Katie Graduates Preschool

Katie graduated from preschool today. It was really cute. They sang a few songs. Katie was in the center of the front row, acting very silly. Mom says she flashed everyone her Elmo panties, but I missed that. When they received their diplomas they asked each kid to say what their favorite part of school was. Katie's anwser was "um.... carrots!" It was a lot of fun and now she will tell you she is in PreK and very excited about it.

Leslie's last concert

I went to Leslie's last concert of the year. It was also Mr D's last concert as he is retiring this year. It was great to hear a lot of the songs I sang in choir OH SO MANY years ago. I kept elbowing Janie (who I don't really think was listening) and saying "I sang this one too!" She got a kick out of that.

New Car

Well, here is a really bad picture of the new car. We have been driving it for about a week now and we have no complaints. I think it is going to work out well for us. I spent today getting ready for Scott and Katie's birthday parties. Katie is getting so excited! She has been carring around an extra invitation for a couple days now. It is very cute.

Weird Library Story

Ok, right before I went to IA I checked out some books for the kids to read in the car. Some books I took back right before the trip. The others NEVER left the car. Also meaning as you well know that we didn't have them for most of the trip. Once we returned I asked Scott to return the books to the library for me on his way to work. Now usually I double check the books with my list before returning them, but as I was busy unpacking and they all stayed together in the car, I just sent them with him. A week later, right before they were due, I got an email reminding me one was about due. Figuring it just got pushed under a car seat or something I renewed it for the time being noting that it was due back the 1st of this month. Then I searched the car the kids rooms and even moved furniture. I have NEVER lost a library book. But I couldn't find it anywhere. I decided I was just going to have to pay for it the next time I was in. Well, with everyone being sick and all, we haven't been to the library since we got back. Rembering today that the book was now lost AND over due and wondering why I didn't get an email saying it was almost due I got on to the library web site to check the status of my account. I have no fines and nothing checked out?!?!!? I guess Scott did get it there and for some reason it didn't get checked in. WEIRD

Iowa 2007

Well, as many of you know I took Katie's spring break and went back to Iowa alone with Katie and TJ for a visit. Let's just say it was a learning experience.
I took my 1987 Toyota Camry. Yes, it is old, but it is in prefect working order. . . well, it was in prefect working order. I was maybe an hour from the Nebraska border when my heat gauge sky rocketed. So, I pulled over at the next exit. As soon as I slowed down, the gauge went down. Unsure of what was going on I stopped anyway. Dirt road, nothing in either direction as far as the eye can see, and of course no cell service. After 15 min or so I decide it is safe to go on. I made it to North Platte where I was going to meet my parents for the night.
The next day my dad keeps an eye on the car, but decides everything is fine so, we drive, and drive, and drive, and, the car blows up in Brooklyn, Iowa. Yes, there is a Brooklyn, Iowa. So, I call AAA have the car towed to a near by shop. The kids and I hop in the truck with my parents and sisters for the last hour of the trip.
Everything went fine while we were in Cedar Rapids. I saw every one and Katie got to play with her cousins for a little bit. Above you can see Katie with her cute little cousin Maddilinn. And to the right you can see my cute little cousin with her baby Elijah.
After visiting my Grampa on Sunday we (a 4 car caravan) all stopped for lunch at McDonald's. TJ got a little carried away with his icecream. I couldn't believe how hot and muggy it was that day and we were still in March!!
I had to take a picture of this sign. There are signs like this in quite a few places in Cedar Rapids. If you don't see what is wrong with this picture, you must live in Iowa. I remeber when we saw this sign for the first time last summer. Scott and I really got a kick out of it. It is even better without the Detour sign over it.
I was able to use my Gramma's car while we were in Cedar Rapids. I was sure they would have my car done by Tuesday when we went to Fairfield, but of course they didn't, so here is my beautiful rental car that I had for the southern half of the trip.
While in Fairfield, I stayed withe my super cool cousin Krystle, who I totally forgot to get a picture of.
My little cousin Brandyn has a couple tractors. TJ just loved them he sat on them and turned the wheel. First he wanted to sit on one and then the other, and back to the first. That is of course until my uncle tried to start the Mustang right next to them and he was done! Katie rode with Brandyn on one though and Brandyn even let her "drive" he says she is not a natural though. lol
Here is my baby cousin feeding her baby, a one month old cow. Now that is a big bottle!
Here is a great picture of the girls (my baby cousin and 2 sisters) "fighting". This was an amazing hit by my baby cousin. I am so glad I timed it right.
Well, the car got us home in one piece. Leaking water all the way home. We took it in when we got here to find out it was the water pump that was defective. I was am a little upset about it, because it was replced in IA, just becuse it had never been replaced before, there was nothing wrong with it. Grr. Although the kids still want to be in the car apparently, they sure are happy to be home.

Monarch

Our Monarch trip was great. I did a lot better this time and Scott did pretty well for his first day on skiis. We did ever green there. I even did my first black. I did more runs than I could count. Considering I normally do about three, this is a big deal. The weather was great, the view at the top was amazing!!!! We really had a lot of fun. I can hardly wait ot go back next year. I am sad ski season is over just when I was starting to have fun.

Katie's Class

I volunteered in Katie's class yesterday. This is the picture we took. I wanted one with Katie and her teacher, but I forgot it :-( Anyway, they are all girls, the one boy was out sick. They are a bunch of cuties.

Church Party

We had a party at church to celebrate all the money we raised to expand our building. Frankly, I am against the whole thing and especially ALL the money we SPENT on RAISING money. It was the dumbest thing ever. Anyway, at the party Katie got her face painted. It was so cute.

Big boy underwear

This was taken the day we got TJ his first pair of big boy underwear. Potty training has stopped since I decided to go to IA next week. I don't want to be on the road and potty training like I was with Katie last summer.

Going on a road trip

Well, it has been awhile since I posted. Sorry things have been crazy. I leave a week from today to take the kids to Iowa to see family. No Scott, just me and the kids. Hopefully everything will go ok. I think the kids will have fun with it. We are going much slower than we usually go since i will be foolowing my parents. We are gonig to take 2 days to get out there and back so it should be a pretty easy going trip compared to our usual 3 stops in a week. 2 in IA and one in IL or WI. I bought them a ton of new toys and cds for the car. I think it is going to turn out ok. Wish me luck!

Busy

Between Girl Scouts, Capital Campaign, Bible Study, and Potty Training, who needs a real job? We are starting the Capital Campaign stuff this weekend, so tat should slow down soon, it is only for 5 weeks. I am thining I will be able to pass back the Girl Scout responsiblitites back after the end of Cookie sales (March 5 or so). I only have 4 more bible studies to prepare before I pass the buck to the next poor sap. And with any luck potty training will go quickly. By April I should be totally bored again lol. Enjoy the last 5 weeks of winter!
