Ecumenical Sunday

I have said it before and I will say it again- I learn something new everyday! Having heard that this coming Sunday is Ecumenical Sunday, I was curious to find out what that meant. Here is what I have discovered:

Each year January 18-25 is observed as the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, and the Sunday during that week is observed in many churches as Ecumenical Sunday.

ec·u·men·i·cal /ˈɛk yʊˈmɛn ɪ kəl - Pronunciation[ek-yoo-men-i-kuh l
–adjective
1. general; universal.
2. pertaining to the whole Christian church.
3. promoting or fostering Christian unity throughout the world.
of or pertaining to a movement (ecumenical movement), esp. among Protestant groups since the 1800s, aimed at achieving universal Christian unity and church union through international interdenominational organizations that cooperate on matters of mutual concern.
4. interreligious or interdenominational: an ecumenical marriage.

New Fav site

My new Fav site

http://bible.christianity.com/

I just posted about this site a couple days ago and I love iteven more now!! They have different bible in a year studies, as well as devotioals and great online study tools. Something really cool that I discovered today is parallel translations. The Message on one side King James on the other!! LOVE IT. They also have a section that explains all the different translations and how they differ. You have to check it out and let me know what you think.

The Message

I just started a yearlybible reading plan on line. They have a ton of different translations to choose from so, I chose The Mesage since it is not a trnslation I have at home. I read my first day's reading just now, and I had to blog about it, because I just loved the version. It was just like reading a novel. 90% of the time I read out of my NIV, which I really enjoy, but I am so siked about The Message!! I thought I would also pass along the web site where you can costumize your own reading plan and make notes to your reading:

A couple days after Christmas I found a couple other presents under the tree that I had forgotten about. The kids were just ecstatic to have another present to open.

Mr Snowman

Winter finally decided to hit right after Lilah was born. We had such unseasonably warm weather before then. Here is the snowman Scott and the kids put together. The snow was terrible for making snowmen, but you can't tell a toddler that! He was a little decapitated the next day.
